Dear Parents
2011 was a significant year in the life of Jireh School
as it marked our 10th anniversary.
What a good time for reflection both in where we have come from
and where we would like to be in the next 10 years. We will be holding
a celebration to this end during the year.
Jireh has passed through defining milestones but the
original mission and vision from which the school was birthed have
remained steadfast. The various changes have all contributed to
actualizing our mandate- “To educate children from a Biblical perspective
to become servant leaders”
The concept of starting a school was born out of a
three-family home schooling situation. None of the parents were
educationalists but they were desperate for their children to learn
from a Biblical world view perspective. There were no Christian
schools in the Kumeu area at that time. The number of families grew
until it became apparent that the Lord had bigger things in mind.
Jireh was registered as a school in 2001 and the first teacher was
employed part time. In 2006 Jireh changed from a private school
to an integrated school as a satellite of KingsWay School in Orewa.
This opened unprecedented doors of opportunity. Two full time teachers
were employed and many of the benefits of a bigger more affluent
school were felt in terms of resourcing, educational expertise and
support. The roll doubled overnight.
After eight years of operating out of the Kumeu Baptist
Church, Jireh moved onto its current site in Henderson with far
more suitable facilities. There are now three full time teachers,
five teacher aides and two administrators to help with the smooth
running of the school and for each student to receive maximum opportunities
to develop to their full potential in every area.
Many of our students have gone on to be high achievers
in their collage years winning academic accolades in the areas of
science, language and mathematics. The head boy of KingsWay School
in 2009 was one of the first students of Jireh School.
Jireh School is committed to providing education in
an environment which will challenge and motivate each student to
pursue excellence spiritually, academically, socially and physically.
